Hot!

It was another scorcher, not that I'm complaining, I love this hot sunny weather.

I enjoyed a gentle, albeit very early, start to my day. The sun crept in through the gaps at the edges of the curtains and Mog (obviously starving 😀) was keen to make her presence felt. I like to wander out into the garden in the cooler morning air. Some of the wildflowers are only fully open at this time, closing up again as the sun's rays become stronger, and the bees are already buzzing from flower to flower. I am so happy with my decision to plant a wildflower bed, just as I'd hoped, the garden has definitely come to life with pollinators this year.

I spent another relaxed morning mostly reading, in between doing a few household chores, then in the afternoon we went to the swimming pool again. The pool is situated right next to a river, which is looking rather low just now, but it was lovely and cool there, beneath the shade of the trees.

We had a great time at the pool. Limited numbers meant it wasn't too busy and Lily had a lot of fun jumping in at the deep end with another girl. After so much time away from it,  it is lovely to see her growing in confidence once again.

Returning home, we ate pizza for dinner and spent a lovely evening in the garden. And with a blanket wrapped round my shoulders, I watched as the sun went down, whilst enjoying my elderflower cordial with some prosecco.

  1. I think the mornings and evenings are especially lovely on days like we're having at the moment, not too hot but still warm enough to be outdoors enjoying all it has to offer.

  3. Hello, my friend. I cannot imagine a more lovely summer day. Your wildflowers are beautiful. And summer days at the pool are treasures. Flynn has spent many hours in the lake with neighbor friends this summer. I am inside watching, cozy with my book! Have a cozy day!

  4. Your wildflowers are lovely. Your day at the pool with Lily sounds fun but goodness the river is low. They reckon it's going to stay this hot until the weekend when some rain if forecast, I'm actually longing for slightly cooler temperatures.

  5. What a perfect day. There was never much swimming when Amy and Tom went to the pool, but definitely lots of jumping in. It's good to be confident in the water. I'm ok until I get splashed or somebody comes near me and then I panic lol. xx

    1. The joy of jumping in :) The last time we were there, I had noticed Lily had lost some of her confidence in the water, so it's wonderful to see her enjoying herself once again. We went to the lake yesterday and it was all I could do to get her back out on dry land :)

  7. You are hot! -smile- An interesting change of weather for you, I think. And you are enjoying it! Wise and delightful!

And what a perfectly lovely day!

Gorgeous flowers! You made such a wise decision, to do wild flowers this year, and make the bees happy. As well as yourself.

I know all your Dear Readers would be so happy, if you would continue these chatty daily posts. I know I certainly would. -smile-

It's lovely to hear what people, around the world, are doing...

  11. I can imagine Lily had great fun at the pool and your wildflowers look lovely. A while ago someone from our local council came and dug over a triangular patch on the green opposite my house then just went away and left it - I couldn't see the point and it looked a mess for a while, then things started to grow and now we have a really pretty wildflower 'garden'. I would love something similar in my own garden but I haven't a clue what seeds to use.

    1. They appeared to grow all at once. In spring we simply scattered two packets of wildflower and some cornflower seeds over the area. It's been a lovely surprise to see each one as they have opened up. The cornflowers and poppies are my favourites but the bees love one of the tall yellow flowers which I haven't yet identified. X

  12. I always enjoy seeing wildflowers, in fact our local council has deliberately planted wildflower beds and they look wonderful.

I think your day at the pool with Lily sounds excellent.

    Enjoy the summer-time.

    All the best Jan
